One of the few Brazilian women to hold a post-doctoral degree in Tax Law, Mary Elbe Queiroz stands out for her positivity and restlessness
Faced with the immense HAPPINESS she had always felt in all areas of her life, and considering herself fully realized, Mary began to wonder why all people could not be happy, and went in search of the answer to this existential question in deep studies on the subject.
She then took a post-graduate course in Neuroscience and Behavior at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS), and is currently taking a post-graduate course in Positive Psychology at the same university, having studied, among others, with Martin Seligman and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
She even went on to follow the research of leading researchers on HAPPINESS:
Mary complemented her knowledge on the subject through courses such as Happiness Without Formulas, with Leandro Karnal and Chief Happiness Officer, from the Happiness Business School.
To build on her innate quality of communicating and inspiring people, she sought mentoring and courses from Roberto, Arthur, and Rosely Shinyashiki.
All this preparation had effects and culminated in a line of research in which Mary Elbe maintains that happiness must be built within and not sought in something external, as long as there is a change of mindset through intense training in which small daily attitudes should be adopted and repeated, becoming routines and creating the HABIT OF HAPPINESS. All this resulted in the method she created of HAPPINESS TRAINING.
The knowledge acquired by Mary Elbe has been disseminated in several lectures. Highlights include the presentation entitled “Success: you can!“, which was held at TEDx Women and attended by thousands of people, and the lectures given at the Health Congress and the Women’s Circuit, in addition to dozens of lives and mentorships she has given on careers and professional success.
Immersed in a universe where the female presence is still very low in leadership positions – the area of law – serving as an example of a woman who did not let herself be led by unfavorable circumstances and with much struggle and effort conquered her professional space, Mary Elbe makes a point of imbibing the mission of inspiring women to follow her path.
Her struggle in this direction is accomplished mainly through her positions as Leader of the Voices Committee of the Women of Brazil Group – Recife Center, President of the Council of Notables of the Institute of Brazilian Jurists (IJB), and Counselor of ACP-Woman of the Commercial Association of Pernambuco.
Born in Ipubi, a small town in Pernambuco, with about 23 thousand inhabitants, Mary Elbe holds a law degree and a master’s degree in Public Law from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE).
She holds a post-graduate degree in Tax Law from the University of Salamanca, in Spain, and from the Austral University, in Argentina. She also holds a PhD in Tax Law from PUC-SP and a post-doctorate degree in Tax Law from the University of Lisbon, in Portugal.
After 27 years as a Tax Auditor for the Federal Revenue, a position coveted by many, Mary Elbe Queiroz resigned to dedicate herself to other activities that were more in line with her purpose in life, and opened her own law firm, Queiroz Advogados Associados, based in Recife and with a branch in São Paulo. Mary Elbe has a strong presence in the educational area: she is the coordinator, in Recife (PE), of the post-graduate course of the Instituto Brasileiro de Estudos Tributários (IBET), also a professor of post-graduate courses. She has published dozens of books and articles related to the area of taxation and is a speaker at tax events in Brazil and other countries such as Portugal, Italy, Spain, Argentina, and Peru.
Mary Elbe is the founder and president of the Instituto Pernambucano de Estudos Tributários (IPET – Recife/PE), a consultant for the Tax Reform group of the National Confederation of Commerce (CNC), and a member of the Conselho Superior de Assuntos Jurídicos e Legislativos da Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo (FIESP).
Mary Elbe was a consultant to the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and to the National Sebrae, where she contributed to the drafting of the General Law for Micro and Small Companies. She is also a former member of the Senate Commission of Jurists to draft proposals for debureaucratization.
For Mary Elbe the maxim prevails: : it is not successful people who are happy, it is happy people who are successful!!
